Big Jim Gilliam
This motorcycle rally is named after a man who owned and operated an outdoor market during the 40's to the early 60's. He was the farmers market of his day. He sold ice cold watermelon, fruits, veggies, cold pop, ice cream by the scoop, Christmas trees, plants and lumber. He kept a homemade live well in town branch to keep last nights sand bass fresh. The market provided for his family which he raised next door to the market in what is now Norris Park. If there has to be a reason why the rally is named after Big Jim I would say to remember a simpler time in history. A time when ice cold beer and watermelon on a Saturday night did the trick.
